Trained as an aeronautical draftsman, Lebovici entered the late-1960s Paris design scene with an engineer’s rigor and a sculptor’s irreverence. Rejecting conventional furniture, he interrogated everyday objects through scale, humor, and material subversion. Working in molded plastics, chrome, methacrylate, and aluminum, he transformed utilitarian items into oversized totems, from giant safety pin floor lamps to colossal wall plug lights. His work went beyond visual novelty. Rooted in technical precision, Lebovici produced strictly limited, often self-funded editions to maintain absolute creative control, bridging industrial design and fine art. Alongside contemporaries like Les Lalanne, his pieces channeled a distinctly French Neo-surrealism that both celebrated and critiqued post-1968 consumer culture. Lebovici’s legacy rests on this synthesis of engineering mastery and poetic subversion. By treating the functional object as a site of philosophical play, his sculptures never settled for merely lighting a room or providing a seat, they provoked, transforming everyday utilities into genuine objects of wonder.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e","brand":"SCENERS GALLERY","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":65126087328121,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0735\/2231\/5551\/files\/Screenshot_2026-11-06_at_13.42.32.png?v=1793969061","url":"https:\/\/scenersgallery.com\/products\/marcel-breuer-b10-table-copy","provider":"SCENERS GALLERY","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
