Dean Avisar’s latest work is conceived as a meditation on infinity, an exploration of the soul as something boundless, existing beyond material constraints. While human life unfolds through action and physical experience, Avisar suggests that beneath it lies an immeasurable and continuous presence. Art becomes the threshold between these realms, where the finite and the infinite meet. For the artist, creativity is not an act but a state of being. In openness, creation flows naturally, linking body and spirit. The layered surface of the work reflects this inward journey, inviting a gradual discovery of depth both visual and existential. What distinguishes the piece is its constant evolution. Through experimental techniques using chemical compounds and pigments reactive to ultraviolet light, the artwork responds to its environment, almost as if painted with light. As illumination shifts, colors intensify, recede, and transform, creating a living expression of movement and renewal. The foundation of the work is a custom-made paper produced to the artist’s specifications, composed of hemp, flax, and abaca fibers for strength and absorbency. Drawing from traditional Japanese papermaking techniques, each sheet is formed by hand, anchoring its immaterial inquiry in a powerful physical presence.
