ABOUT PIERRE JEANNERET
Pierre Jeanneret, born in Switzerland in 1896, trained at École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva before partnering with Le Corbusier in Paris. Together, they designed notable projects like Villa Savoye. Jeanneret collaborated with Charlotte Perriand on tubular metal furnishings showcased at the 1929 Salon d'Automne. During World War II, he joined the French resistance, differing from Le Corbusier. Reuniting in 1950, they planned Chandigarh in India. Jeanneret's furniture, marked by material sensitivity, includes chromed metal and wooden pieces. His works in Chandigarh, crafted from teak, are now highly prized, having been rediscovered and refurbished from Indian scrapyards in the late 1990s.
