ABOUT CARLO HAUNER AND MARTIN EISLER
Born in Vienna in 1913, Martin Eisler graduated with an architecture degree in 1936 but faced World War II disruptions, leading him to relocate to Argentina in 1938. Establishing his interior design firm, Forma, Eisler eventually moved to Brazil in the early 1950s. Carlo Hauner, born in Brescia, Italy, in 1927, shifted to Brazil after a successful stint at the Venice Biennale in 1948, founding Móveis Artesanal. The duo met in 1953, collaborating on Galeria Artesanal and later renaming it Forma. Their designs, featuring Brazilian woods and thin cane frames, gained prominence, including iconic pieces like the Concha/Haia chair and 'Costella' armchair. Hauner returned to Italy in 1958, founding Forma di Brescia, eventually selling his share to Eisler. Eisler continued Forma's success until his death in 1977. Hauner focused on painting and passed away in 1997. Forma, now Interior Forma, persists, with the legacy of Hauner and Eisler promising more intriguing pieces in the years to come.
